The Moko Jumbie house, which once stood as the Danish Armory, boasts characteristics of early nineteenth-century residential buildings of Christiansted. This historic property is over 200 years old and has been restored with much love and care as a 4-unit building. The added interest is in the placement of the stepped site and the double-curved grand stairway leading to a masonry bay centered against the front gallery. The original yellow Danish bricks throughout the exterior have been preserved and allocated with great attention to detail, providing a unique experience. "The Guardians" a bronze artwork by sculptor Ward Tomlinson Elicker, is permanently located just steps from your front door.
Inside, the Moko Jumbie House - Historic Suite, it welcomes you with a charming kitchenette showcasing historic Danish brickwork from countertop to ceiling, framing the beautiful large windows. The bathroom is a retreat in itself, featuring floor-to-ceiling Carrara marble, a sleek glass shower, and a serene view of private greenery. With a split A/C unit to keep you cool and all your essentials covered, this suite blends historic charm with modern comforts.
We want to share that due to the historic preservation design of our building, wheelchair access is not currently available. We truly value accessibility for all our guests and are actively working on improvements to better serve everyone. Additionally, please note that our units do not have backup power at the moment, but we are diligently exploring solutions to provide uninterrupted power supply in the future.
