This detached cottage is situated in a semi-rural location, surrounded by open countryside, nestling on the owner's working farm, in the pretty village of Meifod. Set in Mid Wales, near the Shropshire borders, this well-appointed accommodation provides an ideal base for couples, friends and families wishing to spend quality time together. Although a relatively modern property, Pentrego Isaf has all the character and charm you would expect from a more traditional cottage. The sense of space is immediately apparent when you enter the beautiful oak framed, glazed entrance hallway with double height ceiling and a bespoke oak and wrought iron staircase. The kitchen is well-equipped and caters for all your needs, extending to a lovely dining area. There is lots of natural light drawn in from the full length glazed patio doors, which lead to a seating area outside, perfect for alfresco dining. The cosy sitting room features a red brick fireplace housing a woodburning stove, providing a relaxing place to sit and enjoy family time with your favourite films. A ground floor bedroom with an en-suite wet room, is perfect for members of the group who may find stairs a little tricky and there is an additional cloakroom for convenience. Upstairs, there are three good-sized bedrooms, each individually furnished and styled. The master bedroom with a four-poster bed, benefits en-suite facilities and views of open fields. The garage is secure to house a vehicle and bikes, and there is even table tennis for those rainy days. There is a ramp from the garage to allow easy access into the house for wheelchair users and prams. Outside, the block paved patio boasts seating areas and a small garden, with only the sheep and cows in the adjoining fields for company. There are lots of walks to enjoy from the cottage, each taking in some wonderful scenery, including Glyndwr's Way. A 10-minute walk takes you into the village where you can stop off for a drink at the local pub, or spend an afternoon at nearby Welshpool. Enjoy a trip on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, or discover the beautiful lakes Vyrnwy and Bala, the Pistyll Rhaeadr Waterfall or Powis Castle. The medieval towns of Shrewsbury and Chester are within easy reach by car as well as the wonderful Snowdonia National Park and the coast. For mountain bikers Llandegla, Coed-y-Brenin and the Revolution Bike Park are all within easy reach. There are 2 tennis courts in the village which can be used for a small fee. The field adjacent to the cottage can be used for field sports such as football or rounders if you let the owners know in advance. There is plenty for everyone at this wonderful cottage, providing the perfect base anytime of the year.
Meifod is a sunny little, stone-built village with a local pub, church and village hall enveloped by ragged hills and greenery, with attractive houses dressed in ivy. Situated about 8 miles north-west of Welshpool, this pretty village also offers its own football team, school and convenience store with a post office. Nearby, Llanfair Caereinion is in the heart of old Montgomeryshire's Banwy valley and is one of the smallest towns in Powys. Just a short walk over the Banwy Bridge from the hilly streets of the town centre, is the Welshpool to Llanfair Light Railway. Every year the Llanfair Caereinion Carnival proceeds through the town, with a colourful parade of floats and dancing troupes. The Llanfair Show is also a cherished event; for one day only, the show aims to encompass all that is best in the Montgomeryshire countryside. Welshpool is a bustling market town, nestled in the upper reaches of the Severn Valley near the border between Wales and England. There is a lovely blend of shops, quality pubs and restaurants, as well as a restored cock fighting pit and interesting Heritage Trail. Visit the famous 13th Century Powis castle, or enjoy a cruise along the Montgomery canal. There is much to be enjoyed of an afternoon here. A gentle stroll through the town will have you taking in the Georgian architecture, there is even a golf club with a top of the world situation, overlooking the picturesque Welsh borderlands - a perfect location to practice your swing!
